Held last Thursday at East London’s exquisite art deco styled theatre, Troxy, the Oscars of the lighting industry was nothing less than a starry affair. The 2019 Lighting Design Awards hosted the crème de la crème of the industry, be it lighting designers, architects or manufacturers.
The glamorous evening commenced with a glittering networking cocktail reception where we, LEDFlex, unveiled our interactive art wall ‘London Lightscape’. Along the lines of our recent event in the Middle East, the wall featured live charcoal illustration by contemporary artist Mathilde Heu who touched on key trends prevailing in the world of lighting such as sustainability, ergonomics, circadian lighting, to name a few.
The reception was followed by the prestigious presentation ceremony which recognized standout projects and products in various categories. Amongst these categories, we took pride in hosting the Leisure project of the year which featured the Mayflower theatre as a nominee, a project on which we worked alongside lighting designer, 18 degrees, to design bespoke linear lighting for. Besides projects and products, the ceremony acknowledged and felicitated 40 lighting designers under the age of 40 – a brilliant initiative to inspire and encourage the industry of the future.
